The Power of Goal Setting
According to a study from the University of Scranton, 92% of people fail to follow through on their New Year’s resolutions.
Why does the majority of people can’t most likely because they didn’t develop attainable goals and the confidence that they could achieve them.
Setting goals puts you in the driver’s seat that empowers you to change your life and take your business to the next level. As exciting as it sounds, most goals are abandoned within weeks.
The reason why most people just quit is because they fail to develop attainable goals and the confidence that they can achieve them. Have you ever heard the saying, “if you fail to plan, you are planning to fail”?
There are a few things that you can do to succeed and achieve your goals.
1. Ensure your goal is in line with your values. Values are what we believe in. They represent our inner desires, what we stand for, relate to and how we eventually want to be remembered. It’s important that you know your values and establish value-centered goals because they connect us to a greater purpose in life and they drive us in the direction we truly want to go
2. visualize your goal and create a detailed mental image of the desired outcome using all senses. For example, if your goal is to start your own business, imagine yourself signing up your first contract. How does it feel like? Who will you be telling about it? Your family? Your friends? Imagine the excitement and satisfaction you will experience as you speak to your first client.
3. Write down your goal, what you want to achieve, why and how you will track and measure success so it feels more tangible.If you have a long-term goal, break it down into smaller goals to make it more attainable and realistic.
4. Boost your motivation by sharing your goal with somebody so that it’s more difficult to quit because you don’t want to let them down.
Remember, almost everything begins as an idea or a thought. You can be anything you want to be if you start with the right mindset.
Aim for consistency over perfection and stick with it even if occasionally you slip in your old routine.
